Senior Care Unit – Genesis
The Senior Care Unit at Jacksonville Medical Center specializes in treating older individuals that experience serious behavior or emotional problems. It provides an inpatient holistic care program designed to meet the needs of older adults.
Families are an integral part of the treatment plan. The Senior Care Unit will provide support, education, and practical solutions to help face the struggles of the aging process. Customized treatment is delivered by a caring and experienced multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, nurse technicians, social workers, and activity coordinators.

The SCU offers comprehensive assessment, individualizing treatment planning, and a full continuum of behavior health services. Designed for patients and their families, this inpatient program is provided in a confidential, comfortable, and caring setting for mental health care.
Symptoms include but not limited to:
- Anxiety
- Forgetfulness
- Depression
- Mood or Behavior Changes
- Sleeping and Eating Disturbance
- Disorientation
- Confusion
- Severe Memory Loss
- Combative Behavior
